Over £12 million CIF secured for 45 academies in 2020

Hookway has successfully secured over £12 million in Condition Improvement Funding (CIF) in 2020 for 45 delighted academies.

The funding allows them to get much needed building and refurbishment work done such as replacing plumbing and heating pipe work, refurbishing roofs, improving safeguarding and fire safety and installing new washrooms.

Dedicated team of experts

Hookway has a team of surveyors dedicated to working on CIF projects. Their well-practiced, rigorous process ensures the quality of their bids, enhancing the odds of a successful outcome. This year, despite a record number of applications, the team met the December deadline for all bids without fail.

Hookways’ clients are each assigned an account manager to work with them throughout the bid process, from initial application right through to final completion of the works if funding is secured. Having one point of contact helps ensure continuity in communications as well as a smooth and timely implementation of the required works.

Catching up after COVID delays

As a result of the COVID pandemic the 2020 CIF results, usually announced in April, were not published until the end of June. Hookways’ clients were therefore delighted to learn that, in spite of the delay, work was underway within a matter of weeks, with the majority of projects now on-track to be completed before the students return in September.

Partner, Greg Smith, said, “COVID has definitely impacted CIF projects causing potential delays for many schools. Thanks to the very thorough preparation we do for each bid, which includes tendering for the projects, we were able to get work underway for our clients as soon as the results were announced.

“With regards to safe working during the pandemic, the contractors that we work with have carried out COVID specific site risk assessments, so we can be confident that safe working practices are being followed which provides peace of mind for both our surveyors and our clients.”
